Layoffs
OBJECTIVE
The Layoffs function is used to change the status of an employee who has been laid off in maestro* and to complete the information required to generate the record of employment.
An employee may be laid off temporarily (Illness or Injury, parental leave, etc.) or permanently (dismissal, quit, shortage of work, etc.).
PREREQUISITE
- Employee Management (active employee)
Steps
maestro* > Time Management > Payroll > Layoffs > Layoffs |
Laying Off an Employee
- Select an employee.
It is possible to lay off individuals or groups. To select multiple employees, use the Shift or Ctrl button or, in Preferences, use Mode for multiple selection by selecting Check selection.
- Specify the type of layoff applicable in the Layoff type field based on the table below and repercussions in maestro*.

Repercussions in maestro*
Permanent
- The employee no longer works for the company.
- Returning to school.
- Voluntary departure (quit).
- Lack of work.
- Termination of employment.
No group insurance or pension fund calculations are performed because the employment contract is terminated.
NOTE: It is possible to enter a return date only if the layoff reason is Quit, Retirement or Dismissal, respectively the E00, G00 and M00 codes and their sub-codes.
Temporary
- Illness or Injury.
- Parental leave.
The employee continues to contribute to group insurance and all pension funds during his absence.
Maestro* creates an advance for these deductions and the employee reimburses the employer for these expenses when he returns to work.
NOTE: During payroll reconciliation, the insurance and pension fund expenses affect the project, activity and group defined in Employee Management, Other Modules tab, Posting by Department section.
- Complete the required fields based on specific requirements.

Available in Dispatch
If checked, this employee, who has been laid off due to lack of work, may be called back.
The employee is then displayed with the "Available in dispatch" comment. This status is visible in one of the following dispatch options:
NOTE: Visible only if one of the dispatch options listed above is installed.
- Project Dispatch
- Work Order Dispatch
- Quotations Dispatch
- Call Dispatch
The information entered in the other fields (Return date, unknown return date, reason code, comments) will be displayed as is on the record of employment.
If there is already a layoff on the same date for an employee and the values of the record of employment have not been changed, maestro* replaces the existing layoff by the new layoff.
If the values in the record of employment have been modified by the user, maestro* displays the following message: "The employee has already been laid off at this date and the record of employment has been changed. Do you want to restart the record of employment? "
If the user answers No, only the values from the layoff option will be replaced.
If the user responds Yes, maestro* will replace the existing layoff with the new layoff. All the changes made to the record of employment will be lost.
